Wiz Khalifa Claims He Was Inspired By Bob Marley To Confront Kanye West

Among Kanye West's many titles for his The Life of Pablo album was WAVES, which did not sit well with everyone, including Wiz Khalifa. The Pittsburgh rapper confronted West on Twitterto suggest that he was biting Max B. West then fired back at Khalifa with disses ranging from his music to his relationship with Amber Rose. The two have since reconciled.

In a recent interview with GQ, Khalifa explains why he decided to question the "Wolves" rapper in the first place.

"Bob Marley spoke up for what he believed in," he says, also noting that he was listening to A$AP Ferg's "New Level" when he saw West's first post.

After the bout was over, West deleted his tweets and called Khalifa to apologize.

"I keep shit brief," Khalifa says of the conversation. "But for him, it’s no animosity, so it ain’t even no thing."

Elsewhere in the interview, Khalifa explains how he is expanding his personal brand with a residency at Las Vegas' Tao under the name DJ Daddy Kat.

"The alias is just so I could excel at something different the same way I did at rap," he says.

He elaborates that the name came from "Cat Daddy" and helps him create a separate persona from Wiz Khalifa.

"He’s just smooth," he says of DJ Daddy Kat. "He’s just cool. He gets all the bitches. He makes sure all of his homies is taken care of. And he brings the waves."

First Week Sales For 2 Chainz’ Album Dedicated To Lil Wayne “ColleGrove”

The first week sales for ColleGrove are in! The project, which was released via Def Jam Recordings last week on March 3rd, had 35,340sales. However, that total increases to 50,735 if you count streaming.

I know ColleGrove was a 2 Chainz solo album in the end, but I thought I would keep posting updates about the project considering it was an album dedicated to Lil Wayne and had Waynefeatured on nearly every song.

Don’t forget that you will also be able to purchase a physical copy of ColleGrove in stores on March 25th that may possibly include new collabos from Tity and Weezy! What are your thoughts on the first week sales?

Kevin Gates Claims Apple Revealed "Islah" Outsold Rihanna's "Anti"

Kevin Gates reveals that Apple told him his album, "Islah," outsold Rihanna's "Anti."

Yesterday, Kevin Gates stopped by DC radio show The Fam in the Morning. Gates began the interview addressing recent statements that some took to becontroversial, as, during a radio interview last month, he seemed to point blame on the victim in incidents of police brutality and voiced his support for the sentiment "All Lives Matter," instead of the movement that focuses just on "Black Lives." Amid defending his comments, which he ties in to his wider spiritual beliefs, he revealed that his recent album, Islah, outsoldRihanna's Anti. At least that's what certain Apple employees told him during a visit to one of the company's offices.

In mentioning his album sales, Gates is adamant that he couldn't care less about where his album made its chart debut. "The album is, what, No. 2?" asked Gates' rhetorically, referring to Islah's Billboard debut for the week ending Feb. 4. "When I went to Apple they was like, 'No, it's really No. 1.'"

Rihanna's Anti was leaked on TIDAL on January 27, and she soon decided to give away 1,000,000 free downloads of the album. It became available on other online music stores on January 29, the same release date as Gates' Islah. The same day, Anti was certified platinum by the RIAA, but it was soon reported that Samsung preemptively purchased 1,000,000 copies of Anti, hence all the free giveaways upon the album's release.

"No, but Kevin, Samsung paid for Rihanna's CDs, and that's not fair," Gates continued, relaying the words of a female Apple employee.

Due to its early release, Rihanna's chart debut came a week before Kevin's, though Anti's first placement was shockingly modest: No. 27. However, the initial chart only accounted for less than half a week of sales and did not include any of the free album downloads. The next week, Anti racked in over 172,000 units and rose to No. 1, one spot ahead of Gates' Islah, which moved approximately 112,000 units.

There has not been any information suggesting Nielsen included Samsung's pre-bought albums in Anti's second-week sales, though it remains confusing how exactly Billboard configured its streaming numbers. And, of course, Apple is a competitor of Samsung's, but regardless if its No. 1 or No. 2, the numbers for Gates' debut album are outstanding. Though he doesn't seem to be particularly impressed:

"I said, 'Ma'am, I wouldn't care if mine was in the 100th place."

Kendrick Lamar gets his second No. 1 album in under the year.

Kendrick Lamar's surprise compilation album untitled unmastered. tops this week's Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen Music, the album moved 178,000 equivalent album units (and 142,000 pure album sales) for the week ending March 10. With this week's top spot, Kendrick Lamar has earned two No. 1 albums in the past year, following To Pimp a Butterfly, released on March 15, 2015.

Unsurprisingly, untitled unmastered. did not outsell To Pimp a Butterfly, which sold 363,000 album units in its first week. Still, seeing that the new album was released with zero promo and that each of its eight tracks are both untitled and unmastered (obviously), the sales speak volumes to Kendrick's star power.

Billboard reports that Kendrick is the third act since the beginning of 2015 to achieve two No. 1 albums in less than a year -- the other two being Drake and Future. Man, hip-hop is really dominating these days.

Atlanta Rapper Bankroll Fresh Killed at Recording Studio

Cops say gunfire erupted outside an Atlanta recording studio.  The shootout was bedlam ... more than a dozen shell casings were found.  We don't know if anyone else was hit.

.2 Chainz -- also from Atlanta -- tweeted about the "Hot Boy" rapper's death ... "Man I'm a fan of Bru and always will be, I'm in shock at the moment !! Senseless deaths we just got to stop it, I'm speaking up now."

So far, no suspects, but cops are on the hunt.

Bankroll was 28 years old.  RIP.

Kendrick Lamar releases new album at LeBron James' Request

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Turning his Twitter account into a real-life "Field of Dreams"-like mechanism to will something into being, Cavaliersforward LeBron James tweeted to hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar and Anthony Tiffith, the CEO of the Top Dawg Entertainment record label, a little more than a week ago asking them to release new music by Lamar that they were sitting on.

Sure enough, Lamar seemingly granted James' request late Thursday night by tweeting out his new album, "untitled unmastered.", to the world.

James was asked about his relationship with Lamar after Cleveland's shootaround Friday.

"Is there any backstory? Um, it's just family ties," James said. "That's all. It's family ties."

Lamar, 28, is not actually related to the 31-year-old James, but the Los Angeles-based performer and James share a close friend in Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul.

"Really close," James said. "Admire each other's work and each other's craft. And even with him being all the way on the West Coast and me being here, we share a lot of qualities, being around the same age."

Despite the late Thursday release, James said he had already listened to the eight-song, 34-minute album come Friday morning.

"It was great," James said. "I think he's great. It's great to have family like that and people -- even in different areas, not just in sports -- that you can look to and hear for inspiration and things of that nature."

After shootaround, James posted an Instagram video while listening to one of Lamar's songs in his car.

Should James really get credit for Lamar opening up his library, or was the timing just a happy coincidence?

"That's what it's been documented, as of now," James said. "Yeah. That's what they said. They said to thank me. So, appreciate it. You're welcome."

Apparently it's good to be King James, know King Kendrick and have the reach of 28.5 million Twitter followers to help bring weight to your whims.

"That's how it works sometimes," James said with a laugh.

Deadmau5 Blast Kanye West for Pirating Music Software, Serum

Apparently Kanye West is a hypocrite, a pirate, and a man in debt begging for help. Kanye West uploaded a picture to twitter of his computer screen on a youtube video listening to  Sufjan Stevens "Death With Dignity", along with a few opened tabs.

Deadmau5 saw the tweet and responded:

Kanye West forgot to crop his image showing the world that he was attempting to  steal the music software, Serum, from online file-sharing site The Pirate Bay.
Kanye has yet to respond to these allegations. Which is not surprising to some because less than a year ago, Kanye and Deadmau5 stood side-by-side in a show of anti-piracy consensus for the opulent launch of Tidal.
